St John’s church in Aberkenfig will open its doors for a public service tomorrow – the first since the beginning of lockdown back in March.
A team of us attended the church today to get the final preparations in order, such as setting up the tripod and making sure it wouldn’t be in the way.
Very differently to what we’ve been used to in recent weeks, tomorrow’s service will be on Facebook live but not on Zoom – and filming from the church makes all of us very much feel like beginners again after getting used to our usual routine from the vicarage.
We are asking congregations to be patient with us as, much like at the start of lockdown, there could be some bumps along the way as we trial and error the service.
Unfortunately there will be no singing in the church and very little socialising at the end of the service due to social distancing as a result of the global pandemic.
Tune in on our Facebook page by clicking here to join the service at 11am tomorrow.
Thanks to all that worked so hard to ensure that all saftety requirements where met and trailed prior to opening the church after lock down. There was a seemless transition and the service was holy in content and spirituality.I had to wipe a tear from my eye as I was moved.
